The Metropolitan Police Service is committed to giving all victims of crime a professional and sensitive service.
The Community Safety Unit (CSU) is responsible for the investigation of hate crimes within the Borough of Kensington & Chelsea. This includes racist crime, domestic violence, homophobic crime and hate mail. The unit is staffed by both male and female officers who are specially trained to deal with these crimes. The CSU works closely with agencies and in partnership with various groups to tackle these offences and support the victims
If you're a victim of a hate crime, we can help you take the next step.
If you're the survivor of a hate crime and need support to move on, we can help you get there.
Sometimes the crime happens in what should be the peace and safety of your own home and the violence and abuse comes from someone you know well. Sometimes it happens because someone - a complete stranger to you - doesn't like anyone who is different to them.
The Metropolitan Police makes tackling hate crimes a priority, that's why we've set up Community Safety Units in every area of London with dedicated staff who receive special training to help you with your problem.
If you want to speak to someone privately we can give you advice about your options or we can put you in touch with other organisations that can help - this service is entirely confidential.
If you want to take it further and see the person who committed the crime against you prosecuted we can take you through the process with as much support as you need. We listen to your wishes and choices at every stage. One officer will stay with your investigation throughout and he or she will let you know what's going on at all times.
Even if what has happened to you is not - in the eyes of the law - an actual criminal offence, we will still investigate it seriously and offer you support. And we will still want to know about it because the more information we can gather, the better we can work together to stamp out hate crimes.
We choose one officer to be in charge of your case from the beginning to the end. The officer will contact you within 24 hours of your call or report. This officer will have had special training in investigating hate crimes and will stay with you throughout the course of the investigation. If you need to see anyone else who can help you such as a doctor, social worker or crime prevention officer we will arrange it.
